Itinerary

Day 1Arrival and transfer to the hotel for the overnight.

Arriving at the airport you will be warmly welcomed by a Unterwegs Safaris representative, and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2Mabamba/ City Tour

Early in the morning you will take on this one-day activity to the Mabamba Swamp for a Mabamba shoebill tour and a shoebill stork birding safari and also embark on a city tour of Kampala

Day 3Transfer to Jinja (Source of the Nile) - Sipi

After your early morning breakfast you will then embark on a journey to Jinja where you will visit the source of the Nile and the historical site of Mahatma Gandi thereafter continue your journey to Sipi

Day 4Sipi Falls

Drive to Kapchorwa and proceed to Sipi Falls; Proceed to the lodge and in the afternoon, go for the trek through the Sipi Falls. The falls are characterized by 3 spectacular falls along the river Sipi. The region is predominantly panoramic with the view of the unique Karamoja valley. Along this walk, you will have a chance to have a coffee tour where you will learn about coffee and personally experience the processes of coffee growth, drying, and processing locally. The Sipi Falls area, found at the base of Mount Elgon is particularly famous for Bugisu Arabica Coffee produced and grown by the local farmers. Bugisu Arabica only grows at an altitude of between 1,600 and 1,900 meters; it is the main cash crop in the area and genuinely one of the finest coffee in the world. Later return for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 5Transfer to Kidepo NP

After breakfast start the drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. The Park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya, some 700km from Kampala. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park is also the most magnificent, for Kidepo ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses.

Day 6Game Drive - Kidepo NP

You will have a morning nature walk in the park thereafter have a midmorning game drive where you will have a chance to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, huge herds of buffalo, warthogs, duikers, Jackson’s Hartebeest, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hundreds of bird species, other animals that may be seen roaming around include Jackal Roan, Antelope, Waterbuck, Eland, Oribi, Klipspringer, and Lions. The park also boasts of being the highest concentration of birds endemic to Uganda like Ostrich, Kori bustard, vultures, pygmy falcon, hornbills, eagles, and more.

Day 7Game Drive & Karimojong Cultural experience

Have an early morning game drive and then later in the afternoon, go for a cultural tour in the Karamajong community. Here you will spend a wonderful evening with the Karamajong people and have an insight into their way of life and beliefs. Return to the lodge.

Day 8Transfer to Murchison Falls NP

Drive to the legendary Murchison Falls National Park. This Park is one of Uganda’s largest conservation areas and boast of 76 mammal species and 451 bird species that thrive in the open savannah and tropical forests. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park.

Day 9Game Drive & Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, proceed to have a game drive. Drive in the open African savanna in search of Lions, Leopard, Hyena, Buffalo, elephants, Jackson Hartebeest. Oribi, Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, and enjoy spotting various Bird species. This is a beautiful drive across the savannah, Borassus Palm Forest, and grassland down to Lake Albert where the Albert Nile heads north. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride up the Nile to Murchison Falls. Enjoy these spectacular falls where the Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gap. Thereafter drive back to the lodge.

Day 10Transfer to Kibale NP

Early morning you will be transferred to Kibale Forest National Park where you will have an opportunity of tracking chimpanzees and enjoying nature walks and a variety of birds

Day 11Chimpanzee tracking & Swamp walk

Have breakfast early enough, leave the lodge for the park headquarters with enough bottled drinking water. Here you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking. After briefing, embark on trekking through the forest at around 8:00 am guided by an armed park ranger. Nothing is as amazing as having time with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You will also see other primates like golden monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, LHoests monkeys, bush babies, among others; you will also spot a number of birds.

Day 12Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP

Enjoy your breakfast and afterwards, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park has a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, lions, and many others. When you arrive, have lunch at the lodge and go for a late afternoon game drive where you will be able to see the above animals and many more together with birds. Have dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 13Game Drive and Boat cruise on Kazinga

You will have breakfast at 6:00 am after which you will immediately start the game drive. You have to be early because you will be able to see the morning risers like the lions, solitary buffaloes, kobs, elephants, etc. It is such a great and exciting time as you can easily see these animals closely. Later, head back to the lodge for lunch and get ready for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which is home to various species like birds such as malachite kingfishers, pink-backed pelicans, and animals like crocodiles, elephants, hippos and many more. Basically, cruising on the Kazinga is one of the most eye-catching activities in the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 14Transfer to Ishasha

You will be later be transferred to the the Ishasha Sector which is home to tree climbing lions.

Day 15 Transfer to Bwindi

You will drive South west of the country to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, You will see various rolling hills with terraces, such a great journey with all these sights. Upon reaching the park, check in at the lodge of your choice and just relax there the whole evening as you get ready for the next day. Dinner and your overnight stay at your lodge

Day 17Bwindi Gorilla Tracking

Have breakfast at 6:30 am and transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch where you will be briefed by the professional park rangers. By 8:00 am, you will be accompanied by the park rangers as you enter the mist forest to trek mountain gorillas. You might need a walking stick if you are not physically fit enough. Also, consider using potters to carry your luggage just in case you have any and you’ll pay them a small amount of money for labor. Trekking may take between 2 and 8 hours. The moment to you see and start interacting with the gorillas, only one hour is given to you.
After trekking, return to the lodge to unwind and later in the evening, take a walk in various communities such as in Batwa community where you will interact with them and learn a lot from them before you retire at the lodge.

Day 18Lake Mburo

After your early morning breakfast you will be driven to Lake Mburo where you will take on a thrilling game drive through out the park experiencing a variety of wild life especially zebras

Day 19Transfer to Kampala - Fly out

You will be transferred early morning back to Kampala to catch your flight back home
